Piece of jewellery created round a proverb

Kahlil Gibran's proverb I used was: Be like flowers and turn your faces to the sun. (KAHLIL GIBRAN)

These are 4 very thin rings that have plique a jour enamell in them and the only way you can see the real beauty of the rings is if you hold them up to the sun and the light shines trough, just like stain glass windows. The rings fan out when off the finger and they are held together by a tiny screw i made to go at the bottom of the ring. this way you can add or take off or wear how ever meny you would like.

I call them my Sunshine rings.....

For our third year portfolio we have been creating pieces of jewellery according to certain design briefs in order to prepare us for our diploma show and for our research proposal for fourth year.

Here are some of my pieces.....

My emotional Piece of jewellery: Hydrangea Neck piece

The Hydrangea flower is actually the symbol for a "Heart Felt" emotion. My inspiration came from the hydrangea flowers i carried down the isle at my sisters wedding.

I have created a delicate organic piece of jewellery by linking the hydrangeas with thin open jump links and the hydrangeas themselves are made out of paper thin fine silver and then torch fired enamelled.

My Found object...

Funny enough I found this beautiful piece of coral in my brothers bed room one day. I enjoyed encorporating a " real" piece of nature into my ring. It carries through a delicate feel as with my other pieces of jewellery. It comments on how the world today likes to adjust nature according to how it fits in with us and what suites us. We tell nature how it should be; so i have created a piece of jewellery where the setting was created around the piece of nature and it is as if the coral is just ballancing on its elevated level above the finger.

We were given a project on taking a look into trends
I found this website where Gulnur Ozdaglar Guvenc has created jewellery from PET bottles. (gulguvenc.blogspot.com) ( Check it out) This inspired me with how he used a mass of elements all put together to create an effective neck piece and still have a raw organic feel about it

I wanted to use a mass of the elements to create a piece of jewellery and Icame up with this idea

I then furthered this idea to focus on a few of the hydrangea elements and created the hydrangea flowers out of thin fine silver and enamelled a few

I furthered this idea and my final pieces looked like this
